Techniques, Techniques, And More Techniques

I want to tell you about a new book that I have. It’s written by Julia Andrus and it is called “Paper Transformed”. What I like most about this book is that it isn’t just a book full of projects, it is a book full of techniques. Page after page of “recipes”. It’s like an encyclopedia of paper finishing techniques.

Every technique has a clear photo of the finished look as well as directions and step-by-step photos where needed.

Many of the techniques are ones I already know  but it is so nice to have them all together in one place. From time to time I forget about some of the old standards or don’t quite remember all the steps. Now I have the perfect reference tool to refresh my memory!

After reading this blog entry, I knew I had to have this book. Last night I strolled down to my local barnes and noble with my coupons and gift cards and picked it up. What an awesome book. Even though I did know some of the techniques, which are oldies but goodies, I had completely forgotten about them. Kind of like when you change your summer clothes to winter and you forgot about some of the clothes you have, it’s like getting a new wardrobe………oh wait a minute, you guys don’t have to change from summer to winter do you? You lucky people. :-)

    Elise,
I’m glad to hear the post was useful to you! This book would be good as a ‘workbook’. You could just set a goal to go through and create something from each of the techniques. Sounds like a fun way to keep Artist’s Block at bay!

I might have to check out this one next time I’m in the bookstore.

It’s really a well put together book, Suzanne. There are a few projects in the back of the book but mostly it is just a really nice directory of techniques.

Elise, I hear you hate my blog now because it keeps making you spend money! LOL

Wait, I never said I hated to spend money….especially when it’s for something fun like this book! I do admit that my library has grown since I’ve been reading your blog :-)
